The Hubbard Hop Festival parade, which opens festivities at 10 a.m., won't go to J Street

INDEPENDENT FILE PHOTO - The Junior ROTC marched in the parade last year. The parade is arguably the most anticipated part of Hop Festival, and registration begins at 8 a.m. Saturday.

The theme for the parade is "Around the World" and participants are encouraged to stick to the theme as much as possible.

Plaques will be given in seven categories: equestrian, youth equestrian, best theme, vehicle/new farm equipment, vehicle/vintage farm equipment, antique fire apparatus, fire apparatus, best vehicle best motorcycle, best commercial vehicle.

Those who wish to ride bikes in the parade will receive ribbons.

The parade route is slightly different this year, thanks to challenges with permits for road closures that are owned by the county and not the city. The parade route starts at A Street and goes down Third Street, turns left at G Street (instead of J Street) and travels down to Seventh Street, where it meanders down to A Street and up to Fifth Street, where the route ends a couple blocks from Rivenes Park.
