New police officers to graduate from academy
Local police officers are part of the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training's 380th Basic Police Class that will graduate at 11 a.m. Aug. 10.
Marcos Jimenez, of the Hubbard Police Department, Benjamin Snell, of the Gervais Police Department, and Alexandra Cheremnov, of the Marion County Sheriff's Office, will be among those honored at the ceremony, which will be held at 4190 Aumsville Highway S.E. in Salem. A reception will immediately follow the graduation, which will feature Chief Chris Skinner of the Eugene Police Department as guest speaker.
The Basic Police Class is 16 weeks in length and includes dozens of training areas including survival skills, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, ethics, cultural diversity, problem solving, community policing, elder abuse, drug recognition, and dozens of other subjects.
