The academy is for anyone interested in the day-to-day operations of the sheriff's office

If you have ever been interested in what the day-to-day job of a Marion County deputy is or services that office offers, then why not consider joining the Citizen's Academy.

The academy meets 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 19, 20 and 27, and Nov. 3.

There are only 30 open slots for this year's academy and the deadline for submission is Monday, Oct. 1.

Applicants must be available for all four class dates, be over the age of 18, be able to pass a criminal background check and live or work in Marion County.

The application form, which can be obtained at http://www.co.marion.or.us/SO/Operations/programs/Pages/CitizenAcademy.aspx, must be printed and completed and sent to: Marion County Sheriff's Office, Attn: Jessica Peterson, P.O. Box 14500, Salem, OR 97309.
