For one time only, people with overdue fines in Mount Angel's municipal court can get part of the amount forgiven

Mount Angel Municipal Court is offering a one time only amnesty program starting Oct. 15.

From Oct. 15 through Jan. 31, 2019, anyone with overdue fines can receive one-time forgiveness on a portion of the amount when the payment is made in full.

Overdue fines are defined as those that are currently under suspension status and/or have been sent to the collection agency and are older than one year as of Oct. 15.

Qualifying participants will receive 50 percent of the total balance due. Reductions will not be given for partial payments.

Anyone not sure of their balance can find out more, including payment options, by calling Western Collection Bureau, Inc. at 503-777-7838.

Driver license reinstatement papers will be mailed out at the time notification of payment is received. Participants may also be subject to a $75 fee payable to the DMV to reinstate their driver's licenses.
