Ice cream roll shop to open downtown
Woodburn's downtown corridor is set to get just a little bit sweeter with the opening of a new business this week.
Innovation Ice Cream Rolls is scheduled to roll out the welcome mat to customers at its grand opening on Nov. 23.
Rolled ice cream, which is also sometimes called stir-fried ice cream, originally began as a popular street food in Thailand in and has quickly spread to the United States.
The confection is made by spreading a liquid base of milk, cream and sugars onto a cold surface, along with additional flavors, where the mixture is then agitated until it solidifies.
When the ice cream is spread thin, it is scraped off the surface, forming rolled up cylinders that are served vertically in a cup, often with additional toppings.
Innovation Ice Cream Rolls, located at 273 N. Front St., will offer free desserts to the first 100 people when it opens its doors at 3 p.m. the day after Thanksgiving.
The event will also feature balloons for kids and plenty of free samples until closing time at 9 p.m. Regular business hours will be from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. seven days a week.
