2019 DSA Banquet will be held March 8 at the Metropolis Event Venue in downtown Woodburn

The deadline to nominate someone for the 2019 Distinguished Service Alma Awards Banquet is Friday at 5 p.m.

The 2019 Distinguished Service Alma Awards Banquet added the Spanish word 'alma' - which means soul - to its name this year to reflect the connection to the community's Latino roots.The Woodburn Area Chamber of Commerce is soliciting nominations for the 68th annual event that highlights those who serve to make a positive impact and leave a legacy in the community. This year the DSA Award event has a new addition to its title, incorporating the Spanish word "alma" to reflect a connection to the heart or soul of the community's Latino roots.

A Chamber Nomination Committee will select candidates for Junior First Citizen, Senior First Citizen, Outstanding Youth, and Outstanding Educator awards, which represent those who have made contributions to our diverse community by:

-Performing outstanding volunteer community service over several years

-Participating in more than one major community project or committee

-Giving time outside of business, profession or vocation

-Providing recognized leadership in community affairs

Woodburn area businesses, organizations, and schools (teachers, support staff, and administrators) are all welcome to participate.

The DSA Awards Banquet will be held on March 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Metropolis Event Venue in downtown Woodburn.
