Clean-up day upcoming
It's time to give Woodburn a little sprucing up.
City of Woodburn announced that the annual Woodburn Proud Clean Up Day takes place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, March 16.
This year clean-up volunteers will meet at the Woodburn Public Library, 280 Garfield St., at 8 a.m. for orientation, release forms and supplies. The city will provide transportation to the clean-up sites, and volunteers are urged to dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Woodburn Proud began in 2009 and aims to clean up the region in advance of the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival, which begins March 23 this year.
Sites that get attention include Highway 214 and Highway 99W.
All area residents interested in volunteering are encouraged to turn out Saturday morning. Traditionally, student volunteers have received documentation for four hours of volunteer service.
