Douglas County Sheriff's Office reported that the body of Jeffrey A. Vance of Mount Angel was located by search-and-rescue personnel on Sunday, April 14.
On Friday, Feb. 1, Vance, 30, of Mount Angel, and Anthony Fennimore, 29, of Silverton encountered mechanical problems with their vehicle while out in the woods near the Toketee area of the Umpqua National Forest, east of Glide.
The two had eventually left the vehicle to find help, but they became separated. Fennimore came in contact with another group of people in the area who were able to drive him to a store in Glide.
DCSO reported that searchers had returned to the Clear Water area Sunday where Vance went missing. Search efforts had previously been hindered by heavy snowfall. At approximately 11:50 am, Vance's remains were found by a Douglas County Search and Rescue volunteer.
Douglas County Medical Examiner's Office is conducting a death investigation, but the Sheriff's Office reports that are no immediate signs of foul play. Vance's next of kin has been notified.
