Celebrating 'National Prayer Day'
Eight area churches will be collaborating on a combination potluck and prayer session this weekend.
The event, "Community Worship and Prayer Night," begins with a 5:30 p.m. dinner followed by a 6:30 p.m. worship Friday, May 3, at Calvary Mennonite Church, 6711 S. Lone Elder Road, Aurora.
Calvary Mennonite pastor Kevin Schumacher said the event is being held in conjunction with National Day of Prayer, which officially falls on Thursday, May 2.
"We, the pastors in this area, would like to invite the people in the north Marion area to come and be a part of this worship and prayer event," Schumacher said. "We will be praying for the community leaders in the north Marion area, for our schools, businesses, families, and churches, as well as for our state, our country, and its leaders."
In addition to the host church, other participating churches include Butteville Community Church, Christ Lutheran, North Marion Fellowship, Open Door Community Church, Aurora Presbyterian, Mission Memorial Church and Roca del Salvacion.
All are invited, but organizers ask everyone to bring a main dish, side dish or dessert to share.
