Woodburn man arrested for assault
A Woodburn man was arrested on 20 counts of sexual assault in April and is facing three charges of first degree rape following a grand jury indictment in May.
Arturo Hernandez-Reyes, 23, was accused by a Marion County grand jury of three charges of first degree rape on May 2. Hernandez-Reyes was originally arrested on April 25 and lodged in the Marion County Correctional Facility on 10 counts of rape and 10 counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object.
A week later, a Marion County grand jury brought three charges of first degree rape against Hernandez-Reyes, stemming from three separate incidents throughout the course of more than four-year period.
The first count alleges that Hernandez-Reyes forcefully engaged with sexual intercourse with a victim between the dates of April 12 and April 26, 2019 in Marion County.
The second and third counts allege that Hernandez-Reyes raped the same victim twice more between the dates of Jan. 1, 2015 and April 11, 2019 in Marion County.
First degree rape is a Measure 11 crime that carries a mandatory minimum sentence of eight years and four months.
Hernandez-Reyes remains lodged at the Marion County Correctional Facility, where he is being held on a $1 million bail.
