The Mount Angel American Legion Post #89 will host a Memorial Day service for veterans and their family members, as well as members of the public on Monday, May 27, at 9:30 a.m.
Veteran military members are invited to meet at the American Legion Post at 740 E. College St. in Mount Angel at 8:30 a.m. for a march to the service, which will be held at Calvary Cemetery at 1015 N. Main St.
The service will begin with music courtesy of the Marion County Citizen's Band, followed by welcoming remarks from Mount Angel Mayor Andy Otte.
Rev. Philip Waibel, OSB, of St. Mary Catholic Church will follow with a celebration of Mass, along with music from the St. May Church Choir.
Legion Commander Joe Borschowa will place a memorial wreath as Jim Hauth will read the names of fallen soldiers.
The honor guard will conclude by firing three volleys, along with the sounding of taps.
Guests are invited to bring their own lawn chairs for the service, and in case of inclement weather, the service will take place in St. Mary Church.
Following the service, veterans and family members are invited back to the Legion Hall for refreshments.
