Man tries to steal AK-47 at Donald gun shop
A Portland man was arrested and taken into custody after attempting to rob a Donald gun shop on Wednesday.
Thomas Fisher, 47, of Portland was arrested by Marion County Sheriffs for first degree robbery after attempting to flee Rich's Gun Shop with an unloaded AK-47 rifle.
According to employees who called the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Fisher entered the building around 11 a.m. and asked to look at an AK-47. When employees handed him the unloaded rifle, he fled the building.
Three employees from the business reportedly pursued the suspect outside where he allegedly attempted to load a round of ammunition into the rifle. The employees were able to restrain the suspect until deputies arrived.
Fisher was taken into custody by Sheriff's Deputies and has been lodged at the Marion County Jail. There were no injuries reported.
Fisher is scheduled to be arraigned at 3 p.m. on May 16 at the Marion County Circuit Court Annex.
