FFA students from Gervais, North Marion and St. Paul will be among the participants when the Marion County Fair opens up this week.
The fair opens at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 11 and runs through Sunday, July 14 at the Oregon State Fairgrounds, 2330 17th St., NE, Salem. It Closes at 10 p.m. Wednesday, 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday.
Each day carries a theme: Thursday is Honor Day as seniors, veterans and service members get free admission; Friday is Awesome Day when the first 3,000 fairgoers wearing Awesome 3000 t-shirts get free entry; Saturday is Ag Day, featuring livestock, 4-H and FFA showings all day long; Sunday is Family Day as organizers plan fun activities for the entire family and ages 12 and younger get in free.
Attractions throughout the event include main stage entertainment, inflatable and carnival rides, police and military demonstrations, and Family Day will include Superheroes, Star Wars and Disney characters. Saturday night will also highlight the Marion County Fair Rodeo, a rough stock event that includes bull and saddle bronc riding and barrel racing.
Regular admission is $9 for ages 19 and older; $5 for youth and seniors age 62 and older.
