Woodburn opens summer music series
Need a relaxing way to spend the evening with the family on Tuesdays this summer? Look no further than Woodburn's Music in the Park , which opens its seven-week series of live bands on July 9 with local bluegrass band Roundhouse.
While the series typically is held outdoors at the park space in front of the Woodburn Public Library in downtown, this year's opening act has moved venues to the Woodburn Fire District headquarters due to expected rain as part of an unseasonably mild summer in the Willamette Valley.
But the show must go on, and the quartet of Ron Leavitt, Elizabeth Eck, Donn Whitten and Bill Foss will keep the audience in a festive mood with their bluesy country style, which ranges from slow and somber to toe-tapping high energy.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and Roundhouse will perform from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Due to the small confines of the firehouse, capacity is limited to 100 people and guests are encouraged to arrive a little early. Parking is also limited, so carpooling is also encouraged.
Bring your own chairs and food.
The remainder of the series will continue as planned each Tuesday evening at the Woodburn Public Library park space. Pack a picnic or visit one of the popular food vendors that set up around the library square, serving food 30 minutes before each show.
