Annual event offers residents an opportunity to dispose of large scale refuse

The city of Mount Angel and Republic Services are once again teaming up for the annual community cleanup event on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Located at the Legion Hall parking lot from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mount Angel residents can take advantage of Republic Service disposal services for a variety of large-scale waste and select yard debris.

Republic will accept the following for recycling: yard debris, untreated wood, e-waste and metal.

Acceptable yard debris includes shrubs, grass clippings, tree and shrub trunks no bigger than six inches in diameter, unpainted and unvarnished wood.

Unacceptable debris includes dirt, trunks larger than six inches in diameter and treated or painted wood.

There will be more monitoring of the bins this year to ensure the correct materials are in the correct bins.

Acceptable metal items include major appliances, steel, aluminum, bike frames, bed frames, wire fencing and other metal-only items.

E-cycling items include televisions, computer monitors and towers.

Participating community members must show a driver's license with a Mount Angel address as the residence.

For more information, contact City Hall administration at 503-845-9291.
