Dr. Emilee Nehring of Woodburn Vision Source was named Young Optometrist of the Year for 2019 by the Oregon Optometric Association (OOPA) at their annual meeting in July in Eugene.
The Young OD of the Year award is given to a doctor of optometry who has been in practice 10 years or less and has significantly participated in organized optometry through OOPA. The award was presented to her at the OOPA Awards Banquet by her father, Dr. Scott Nehring. Dr. Emilee Nehring has been on the OOPA Membership Committee, the OOPA Advocacy Committee and was installed as a member of the OOPA board in Eugene. She is also a board member of the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH), an organization that works to provide vision care worldwide to people who can neither afford nor obtain such care. As an optometry student intern she travelled to Nicaragua and Mexico and has been an attending doctor on a trip to Bolivia in 2018 and will be an attending doctor on an upcoming trip to Ecuador in November 2109.
Dr. Emilee Nehring graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences College of Optometry in May 2017. Her Bachelor of Science degree is from Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, Oregon in 2011. Upon finishing her Optometry Degree she returned to Oregon.
