Hubbard teen dies in single-vehicle crash near Silverton
A 16-year old Hubbard resident died on Saturday after suffering fatal injuries as a result of a rollover vehicle crash on Hwy. 214 outside Silverton.
The driver, Brittney Willis, was traveling northbound in a gold 1996 Chevrolet Blazer at around 8 p.m., just south of Silverton near Forest Ridge Rd., when her vehicle drove off the roadway for unknown reasons and rolled.
Emergency personnel responded to the crash and pronounced Willis deceased at the scene. A 16-year old female passenger from Salem was transported to Silverton Hospital with minor injuries.
At the time of the crash, investigators were determining if speed and failure to wear a seatbelt were possible contributing factors.
Oregon State Police was assisted by Silverton Police Department, Silverton Fire Department, Hubbard Police Department, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
On Sunday, North Marion School District administrators confirmed that Willis was student at North Marion High School. The district sent out an email and social media post to parents, students and staff and had school counselors available throughout the week for students who wish for additional support.
