I-5 evening delays expected
Transportation officials are advising evening and nighttime travelers of I-5 southbound north of Woodburn that they should expect delays over the coming week.
Oregon Department of Transportation announced that on Thursday, Oct. 24, crews will begin work repairing road that was damaged following an Oct. 15 crash that involved two semitrailers several miles north of the Woodburn interchange.
That crash closed I-5 for 12 hours, started two fires and spilled several hundred gallons of diesel.
Work plans include a single lane closure to remove contaminated soil on Thursday. On Monday, Oct. 28, two lanes will be closed for grinding and paving.
Two lanes will be close again on Tuesday, Oct. 29, for installation of stripes and rumble strips.
All these projects are scheduled between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
