A Woodburn man and Brooks man sustained serious injuries from a crash on 99E near Concomly Road

OREGON STATE POLICE - Police do not know why the 2002 GMC Envoy veered out of its lane Wednesday evening, causing an injury crash on Highway 99E.Two people have been hospitalized following a head-on crash that occurred Wednesday evening on Highway 99E near Concomly Road.

Oregon State Police, Woodburn Fire District medics and ODOT were dispatched to the scene at about 7:54 p.m.

Police reported that a 2002 GMC Envoy driven by Nicolas Martinez-Rivera, 56, of Woodburn was neading northbound. For an unknown reason, the Envoy veered into the southbound lane and struck a 2009 Ford F-150 pickup operated by Kaleefa Chernishoff, 26, of Brooks.

Chernishoff suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Salem Hospital.

Martinez-Rivera suffered critical injuries and was transported by air to Legacy Emmanuel in Portland.

Investigation into the wreck is still ongoing.
