At least one dead in suspected alcohol-related crash near Aurora
Two vehicles were involved in a fatal head-on collision near Aurora early this morning. Oregon State Police suspect alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene on Highway 551 just south of Ehlen Road at about 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, according to OSP.
There, they found Stephanie Patricio, 33, of Woodburn, deceased.
State Police's preliminary investigation revealed that Kelsie Martin, 29, of Beavercreek, was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on the highway, when for unknown reasons she collided head on with Patricio, who was driving southbound in a Toyota Prius.
Martin sustained serious injuries, OSP said, and Life Flight transported her to Oregon Health & Science University.
OSP suspects alcohol impairment on the part of Martin as a contributing factor in the crash.
On the scene assisting OSP Wednesday were Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Canby Police, Aurora Fire, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, AMR Ambulance, Life Flight and Oregon Department of Transportation.
