OSCU celebrates expansion
A couple dozen celebrants turned out for a Friday morning, Feb. 7, ribbon cutting at Oregon State Credit Union.
The ceremony marks the Woodburn branch's move from 1550 N. Pacific Highway to a brand-new building at 1710 Mount Jefferson Ave. – located between Wheeler Dealer and Coastal Farm & Ranch.
"This move allows for a couple of services we didn't have before, like the drive through," said OSCU Woodburn Branch Manager Patrick Schmerber.
Accommodated by Woodburn Chamber of Commerce Director John Zobrist, Schmerber did the ribbon cutting honors, accompanied by OSCU Board Chair Shannon Cruz and Supervisory Committee Chairperson Thomas Elzinga.
Among others in attendance were Woodburn Mayor Eric Swenson, city of Woodburn Assistant City Manager Jim Row and Economic Development Director Jamie Johnk.
"Oregon State Credit Union started serving the Woodburn Community in 2005 with its branch at Safeway, and now we've moved into this beautiful location to help improve our ability to serve our members," Schmerber said at the ceremony.
"Credit unions are not-for-profit cooperatives," he added, "which means we don't have shareholders. But we do have a board of directors, and their leadership is vital to the credit union and the success of the credit union as we strive to provide an unsurpassed member experience with all of our members who we serve."
