Fire destroys motorhome
Marion County Fire District No. 1 responded to a motorhome fire in the 7500 block of Lakeside Drive Northeast at about 4:29 p.m. Monday, May 11.
MCFD Battalion Chief Joshua Darland said responding firefighters reported seeing a visible column of smoke from several miles away, and when they arrived they encountered a motorhome in full flames, immediately adjacent to a manufactured home.
The crews saw immediately that flames from the motorhome were extending to the manufactured home, so they stretched out hand lines and made an aggressive attack in the motorhome fire while also extinguishing fire on the exterior of the manufactured home.
Darland said the motorhome's occupants were not present, and the manufactured home was vacant, so there were no injuries to occupants or firefighters. The motorhome was a complete loss and the fire remains under investigation.
This district implemented three engines, three water tenders, one medic unit, three chief officers and a fire marshal with a total of 21 personnel.
