Silver Creek Senior Living Community invites local police officers to relax with complimentary snow cones

COURTESY PHOTO: SILVER CREEK RETIREMENT LIVING - Woodburn police officer Travis White In the midst of the often suffocating August heat, no one is immune to the sugary lure of Hawaiian shaved ice — not even the police.

Officers from the Woodburn Police Department were invited by the Silver Creek Senior Living Community to enjoy complimentary shaved ice on Aug. 21 in an appreciation event dubbed "Cops are Cool."

Organizers from Silver Creek host several such community events each year and procured the services of Miranda Vandervoort's Hawaiian Shaved Ice truck for the afternoon to express their appreciation to Woodburn's local police officers.

With a little advance advertising at the Woodburn police station, first responders swung by the Silver Creek facilities throughout the day for a free snow cone (or two) and an opportunity to mingle with residents and staff in the parking lot.COURTESY PHOTO: SILVER CREEK RETIREMENT LIVING - Woodburn police officer Darlyn Chester takes a midday break for a complimentary treat.COURTESY PHOTO: SILVER CREEK LIVING - The only thing better than one cup of shaved ice is two cups.
