Church is collecting supplies for families affected by the Santiam Canyon fires.

PMG FILE PHOTO - The Woodburn Christian Church is collecting school supplies for children affected by recent wildfires.The Woodburn Christian Church is heading up a drive to provide school supplies and craft activities for children of families in the Santiam Canyon area.

Bags of supplies will be handed out the weekend of Oct. 23 and beyond.

"We saw the need and reacted," project chair Jim Jaggers said. "The plan is to provide a bag of supplies for each child of families in the fire-devastated areas."

The church is paying for some of the project out of its benevolence fund.

Donations, both in-kind and financial, to this effort may be made at the Woodburn Christian Church, located at 126 Workman Dr. beginning Monday, Oct. 19.
