Salem man killed in rural Gervais
Marion County sheriffs are investigating a homicide after finding a Salem man dead in rural Gervais on Saturday, Oct. 3.
Deputies responded to reports of an unconscious man located on the side of the road near the area of Matheny Road Northeast and Wheatland Road Northeast at 6:30 p.m.
After deputies and medics confirmed the man was dead, an autopsy was performed on Oct. 4 and determined that he had died via homicide caused by gunshot wounds.
The victim was identified as Francisco Javier Hernandez-Melo, 28, of Salem.
