Woodburn resident taken to hospital following a fatal crash early Saturday morning.

Oregon State Police troopers responded to an early-morning fatal crash Saturday that closed Highway 99E south of Woodburn for several hours.

Police reports indicate that the incident occurred around 3:32 a.m. near milepost 35, between Boones Ferry Road and Gervais, where a Honda Accord operated by Pulciano Roque-Perez, 26, of Salem was northbound when it crossed the center line and collided with a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Antonio Mendoza-Gallardo, 62, of Woodburn.

Roque-Perez sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Mendoza-Gallardo was transported to a nearby hospital with undetermined injuries, as was a passenger in Roque-Perez' vehicle, Bulmaro Cortes-Salinas, 24, of Salem.

Woodburn Fire District and Oregon Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
