Pedestrian hit near Brooks
A 23-year-old woman from Oak Harbor, Washington, was taken to Oregon Health & Science University in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in the 4100 block of Brooklake Road on New Year's Eve.
Emergency crews responded to the call just after 6:30 p.m. near the Brooks I-5 interchange and discovered that Cassidy Kendall was hit by a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe and suffered life-threatening injuries.
Marion County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Jeremy Landers said crews immediately began assisting Kendall, while deputies interviewed witnesses at the scene. The sheriff's office was assisted by crash investigators from Oregon State Police.
"The involved driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators," Landers noted. "Based upon initial information, deputies learned the female was crossing the road in front of May Trucking when she was struck by the vehicle."
