Three Woodburn residents were transported to Salem Hospital with injuries, drivers of each vehicle pronounced dead

COURTESY PHOTO - Three Woodburn residents were hospitalized after sustaining injuries as passengers in a Cherriots mini bus that collided with a car Wednesday night. The bus driver and the driver of the car both died. A passenger in the car also died on Saturday, three days after the crash.Three Salem residents died following a collision on Highway 99E north of Gervais that involved a Cherriots mini bus on Wednesday night.

At 8:09 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a two vehicle crash near Boones Ferry Road. Oregon State Police troopers determined that a Ford Fusion operated by Jordan Chandler, 26, of Salem was traveling south on Highway 99E when his vehicle entered the northbound lane and collided with a Cherriots mini bus operated by Rachel Bunting, 51, of Salem.

Chandler sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Bunting was transported to the Salem Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased as well.

Three passengers from Woodburn were on the bus and were transported to Salem Hospital with injuries — Phillip Splawn, 34; Chelsea Arredondo, 30; and German Gomez Paz, 45.

A passenger in the Ford, Brooke Fisher, 21, of Salem was transported to Emmanuel Hospital in Portland. She was pronounced dead on Saturday.

Oregon State Police were assisted by Woodburn Fire, EMS and ODOT.
