An Aurora man involved in a collision left a Dayton woman dead, and a passenger hospitalized Tuesday evening.

A Dayton woman died in a two-vehicle collision that involved an Aurora man Tuesday evening on Highway 219 near milepost 22.

According to Oregon State Police, Alexander Lewis, 20, of Aurora, was traveling southbound when he moved into the northbound lane to pass a tow truck hooking up a trailer on the southbound shoulder.

Lewis' Nissan Frontier collided with a northbound Kia operated by Erika Wanmer, 22, of Dayton. Wanmer sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. A passenger in the Kia was transported by air to Legacy Emanuel. Lewis was transported by ambulance to OHSU.

OSP was assisted by the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, Newberg-Dundee Police Department, TVF&R, and ODOT.
