Teens arrested for theft at Woodburn skate park
Two teenagers were arrested for a theft that occurred at the Woodburn Skate Park Saturday evening.
Woodburn Police responded to a caller who reported two males had stolen an iPhone, AirPods, money and other small items that were inside a backpack at the skate park, located at Settlemier Park.
Officers identified the suspects as 19-year old Dakota Ovalle and a 16-year old juvenile, who were known to the victims. Police contacted the suspects near the 300 block of North Settlemier Avenue, where they ran before eventually being detained.
The suspects were arrested for first degree theft and second degree criminal mischief. The juvenile suspect was also charged with possession of a controlled substance — Xanax — and was found to be in possession of a Glock replica airsoft gun that was inside a fanny pack during the theft.
Following the arrest, WPD emphasized in its press release that the realistic nature of the gun could have easily been mistake for a real firearm and urged parents to be aware of their children's activities.
