Two-vehicle crash injured Yamhill man, closed Highway 240 west of Newbeg for four hours.

One person died and another sustained serious injuries from a two-vehicle crash three miles west of Newberg Tuesday morning, July 27.

Oregon State Police said that at about 5:20 a.m. a Toyota pickup was traveling east on Highway 240 when it crossed into the westbound lane and struck a Nissan Sentra. The driver of the Sentra, 34-year-old Irene Gomez of Woodburn, sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the Toyota pickup, 36-year-old Jeffrey Brown of Yamhill, was taken by Life Flight to OHSU for treatment of serious injuries.

Highway 240 was closed for about four hours, as Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and ODOT assisted OSP at the scene.
