40 colleges, universities, industries offer glimpse at programs Nov. 3 in Salem

PMG PHOTO: JUSTIN MUCH - Chemeketa Community College has seen a dip in enrollment this fall, but it has not been affected as drastically as some of it Portland-metro area counterparts.Chemeketa Community College, in partnership with Salem-Keizer Public Schools, will host the annual Salem Area College and Career Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 4000 Lancaster Drive in the Building 7 gymnasium.

Salem-area students and their families are encouraged to attend. This event is free and open to the public. The fair hours are from 5 to 8 p.m.

The fair, which has taken place for more than 25 years, welcomed more than 2,000 visitors in 2019. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the fair was canceled in 2020. But this year Chemeketa, along with 40 other colleges, universities and industries, will showcase its offerings to students and their families. The sponsors of the event are Chemeketa Community College, Salem-Keizer Public Schools, and Dutch Bros.

"This event provides an opportunity for Salem area high school students and their families to engage with both colleges and industries in person," said James McNicholas of CCC's Student Recruitment, Enrollment & Graduation Services. "These first-time connections are mutually critical to building relationships and determining the best fit for students."

Chemeketa is working closely with the Emergency & Risk Management Office to ensure adequate health precautions are taken with several risk-mitigation measures.
