Deputy nabs Woodburn shooting suspect
A suspect in a New Year's Day report of shots fired in Woodburn was arrested north of Salem, Woodburn Police Department reported.
WPD spokesman Tommy Moore said that police received a report at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, that shots were fired in the 200 block of Oswald St. Several subjects reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle, which was later identified, pursued and stopped by a Marion County Sherriff's Office deputy on Portland Road north of Salem.
A suspect in the vehicle, 22-year-old Israel Isay Ramos-Cruz, was arrested for robbery, burglary, assault, unlawful use of a weapon and reckless endangering. Additional charges are expected to be filed.
Police identified two victims in the shooting, neither of whom were transported to the hospital. No other details are available at this time.
In addition to the MCSO, the Oregon State Police, Salem Police and Mount Angel Police assisted WPD in the apprehension of the suspect.
