New Woodburn See's Candies aims to sweeten up plaza
See's Candies recently opened a store near the Woodburn Premium Outlets with plans for a grand opening sometime this spring.
The company's leader said Woodburn is a perfect fit for its products.
"As someone who lived a few decades in Salem, Corvallis and Portland, I've shopped at the Woodburn outlets dozens and dozens of times, and I know that it is one of the busiest outlet centers in America," See's President and CEO Pat Egan said, noting that the Woodburn shop opened Dec. 15."So, to have See's at the gateway to the outlet mall and to be able to serve folks who live in and visit Woodburn is a great opportunity for See's. We know this location will be very successful, and we're glad to be able to bring more joy to the Willamette Valley."
See's already had nine stores around Oregon, including Salem, Portland, Lake Oswego, Beaverton and Happy Valley.
"The new Woodburn Plaza shop will offer the same selection to the shop in downtown Salem," Egan said, adding that the company celebrated its centennial a year ago this month. "(Woodburn See's) Shop Manager Mike Beaudoin is coming back to Oregon after having been an assistant manager in our Vancouver shop. Mike was raised in Corvallis, and he is very happy to return to Oregon to lead our efforts in (Woodburn)."
Egan said the company has monitored the current pandemic climate and has navigated its Woodburn plans accordingly.
"We are holding off on our formal grand opening celebration out of the safety of our customers and employees until early April," Egan said. "I look forward to coming back in the spring and hopefully be able to see the iris and tulip flowers that make the Woodburn area so beautiful.
"See's is 100 years old, and given that we opened our first Oregon shop in 1969, it's great to say that we've been in Oregon for most of our history," he added. "And, we know Oregonians love their See's, as do the many visitors to Woodburn from around the country and around the world."
