Unitus coming to Woodburn
A credit union's emphasis on flexibility led it to Woodburn where it will be setting up a location near Wal-Mart, close to I-5.
Unitus Community Credit Union announced that the second phase of what the company calls its "Distributed Administrative Network" has drawn it to Woodburn where it plans to construct a new branch and administrative center. Company officials said the vision is to establish "multiple locations for employees to work, collaborate and connect in flexible spaces across the region."
The Woodburn branch and administrative center will be located at 2951 Stacy Allison Way, which fills a geographical gap for members and employees between Salem and planned facilities near Bridgeport Village in the Tigard area.
In Woodburn, Unitus plans a three-story building with an expansive branch and community room on the ground floor. It will have a drive-up window and island virtual teller, while company staff will have access to offices and conference rooms on the second floor. The third floor will provide space for lease.
"Woodburn is a great location for Unitus to plant roots with this new administrative center and branch," said Unitus President and CEO Steven Stapp. "The community is growing, and we know this new location will help us better serve our members in the area and allow us to welcome new members who can count on our inclusive financial products and services."
It's not the credit union's first connection in Woodburn.
"We've been active in the community with partners like AWARE Food Bank for some time, and we look forward to expanding our support within the community," Stapp added.
Unitus announced the first phase of its DAN in July when it purchased an 89,000 square foot facility on Durham Road in Tigard, and officials anticipate the completion of that project for early 2024. The DAN model is expected to minimalize overall operational costs while providing flexibility to adapt to changing needs.
The Woodburn branch and administrative space will employ an initial 15 to 20 employees. Construction is planned for spring of 2023.
