In the last two years, what has the Oregon State Legislature accomplished?
Rejecting defective legislative proposals for cause is doing something.
Legislative work is not happening when the minority of the Legislature is forced to use desperate measures to stop the mindless stampede tactics that were used by the Democrat majority of the members of the state Legislature. The voters that sent the Democrat majority to Salem should take a long hard look at the people they will elect this year.
Are a few more nickels added to your welfare stipend worth loosening your ability to protect yourself from rape, robbery, assault and murder? When seconds count, our local police are only 10 minutes away if they hustle. In an emergency, weapons you know how to use should be available immediately — no locks or "Mother May I" devices in the way. Our children also need to learn respect for weapons. Weapons have a purpose for being where they are. Many long-nosed public school teachers should keep their big mouths shut until they know all of the facts of the matter.
Why is cap and trade legislation so popular with this session's Democrat legislators? "It is needed for prevention of global warming," is the answer being given. How is this to be accomplished? I have never been given a straight and satisfactory answer to that one.
It is obvious to me that the state bureaucracy sees this as a way for them to extort substantial sums of money out of the state of Oregon's economy without having to answer for its expenditure and also to greatly enrich their friends.
