George Fox announces graduates, dean's list

Local students were among more than 800 undergraduate, adult degree and graduate-level students who received diplomas from George Fox University this spring.

All told, 443 students received bachelor's degrees after completing study in one of George Fox's 41 undergraduate bachelor's degree majors. Another 339 students received a master's degree or a doctorate after completing study in one of the university's graduate programs or in its seminary, and 45 students received bachelor's degrees through the school's adult degree program.

The following local residents are among the graduates:

Sergio Ramirez Salazar, Bachelor of Science in information systems;

Enrique Sandoval, Master of Arts in teaching;

Local students who were named to the spring 2018 dean's list, meaning they earned a 3.5 grade point average or above on 12 or more hours of graded work, include:

Hubbard: Christian Parr, senior, exercise science


Melissa Escalona-Vazquez, senior, nursing;

Yajaira Loza, senior, social work; and

Zhanna Slivkova, senior, nursing.

St. Paul native gets honor roll

Delaney Sump, of St. Paul, has been named to the spring 2018 dean's list at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California.

To be named to the dean's list, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or better. Sump is among 1,760 students receiving the same honor.

OIT students graduated June 17

Oregon Institute of Technology awarded degrees to students during the 32nd annual commencement ceremony on Sunday, June 17 at the Portland-Metro Campus.

The university awarded more than 750 degrees total across all campus locations.

Emily Stair, of Gervais, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in medical laboratory science.

Desiree Martinez, of Hubbard, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in applied psychology.

Jessica Johnson of Woodburn graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in medical laboratory science.
