Scene to Screen: YA Book/Movie Club — 4:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 15: "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak and Dec. 20: "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. Read the book, then watch the movie and discuss which was better. There will be fun conversation and snacks. Youth baseball pitching clinic — Nov. 17. Steve Schrenk, the fourth round pick in 1987, will host this pitching clinic through North Marion Youth Athletics for ages 9-18. Group 1 of ages 9-12 will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Ages 13-18 will be from 4 to 6 p.m. The location is the North Marion fieldhouse. The cost is $20 and space is limited. "Turkey Trot" Dance — 7 p.m. Nov. 17. Woodburn Estates will have the "Supernaturals" for the entertainment at the Turkey Trot Dance. Woodburn Estates, 1776 Country Club Road, Woodburn.
Mount Angel Fire District annual breakfast — 7 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 18. Visit the Mount Angel Fire Station, 300 Monroe St. in Mount Angel, for the 21st annual breakfast provided by the Mount Angel Fire District. Feast on Oktoberfest sausages, pancakes, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, and coffee, juice and milk. Adults are $6, seniors are $5, children are $4 and families are $18. Tickets are available at the fire station.
"Who's on Third" Concert — 3 p.m. Nov. 18. The November "Who's On Third?" community concert will feature local rock-n-roll group Billy & the Rockets. This concert will be at Woodburn United Methodist Church; located at 700 N. Cascade Drive in Woodburn. The concert is open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken to continue financial support of this community concert series. During the mid-concert intermission there will be refreshments provided by Country Meadows and Cascade Park.
Community Thanksgiving Worship Service — 6 p.m. Nov. 18. The community is invited to participate in the annual Community Thanksgiving Worship Service sponsored by the Woodburn Area Ministerial Association at the Woodburn United Methodist Church. This annual service is a time for the local community to gather together for a time of cooperative worship and thanksgiving. The service will feature testimonies of life transformation and Will Robertson, senior pastor of the Woodburn Fellowship Church of the Nazarene, will be the speaker. A musical worship portion of the service will be led by the Russian Gospel Church. An offering will be received to support the ongoing work of WAMA, which is an association of area churches and pastors who meet together for cooperative ministry and encouragement. Senior Book Club — 10 to 11 a.m. Nov. 19. November's book selection is "Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis" by J.D. Vance. The final book club of the year is on Dec. 17. December's book selection is "Lost Lake" by Sarah Addison Allen. Meet at Country Meadows in the second floor to discuss the book and have coffee, cookies and conversation. Woodburn School Board meeting — 5:45 p.m. Nov. 20. The Woodburn School Board meets at 1390 Meridian Drive the third Tuesday of every month. Agendas are posted online at woodburnsd.org.
