Suzanne Ybarra, who writes the monthly column "Faithfully" for the Woodburn Independent, recently published the book "What Does a Christian Look Like?"
Ybarra said the book's goal is to encourage others that God is real and he loves us. Each column is a story anchored in Ybarra's love of Jesus for decades, leading Bible studies, and holding a sign on city streets proclaiming, "Jesus will never let you down."
The book is a compilation of more than 70 columns.
Here's an excerpt:
"I got to the Bible study early, but still was surprised no one else was there yet. While I waited for the others, I looked around.
It was December so I was not surprised to see a tall bag of Christmas ornaments on the table. I started taking them out of the bag, admiring their color and sparkle.
There was a blue ornament ball and a fancy silver ball, but then I saw the red one. It was true red with red sparkles. Its beauty captivated me. I heard God say, 'As beautiful as this is, you are even more beautiful to me.'"
