Trojans pick up first Tri-River Conference victory in three tries, Gervais notches season-high

The Kennedy football team scored its first league victory in three attempts, beating the hosting Cougars 61-20 on Friday night at Gervais High School.

The Trojans (4-2, 1-2 Special District 2) were coming off a 37-0 non-conference victory over the Grant Union Prospectors the week prior, but had fallen in a pair of lopsided losses to No. 2 Sheridan, 44-7, and No. 6 Santiam, 44-0, to open their league schedule.

Gervais fell for the sixth consecutive time this season, but was able to come away with its best offensive showing of the year in the loss.

The Cougars (0-6, 0-4 SD2) move on to host Sheridan (4-1, 3-0 SD2) in their final home game of the season on Thursday.

Kennedy returns home on Friday to host the Colton Vikings (5-1, 3-1 SD2).
