Roundup: North Marion, Woodburn boys soccer advance to semifinals

The North Marion boys soccer team returned to the 4A state semifinals for the first time in three years after pulling off a pair of road victories in the opening two rounds of the 2018 state playoffs.
The Huskies (9-4-3, 6-2-3 Tri-Valley) took down the No. 4 La Grande Tigers 2-1 in the first round on Oct. 30 behind a pair of goals from senior Edgar Lopez and junior Andres Agabo.
North Marion struck again in the quarterfinals taking out the Seaside Seagulls 1-0 on Saturday, once again on the back of a goal by Lopez.
The Huskies were scheduled to travel to No. 1 Phoenix on Tuesday at South Medford High School.
The Woodburn boys soccer program qualified for the state semifinals for the ninth consecutive season after scoring back-to-back shutouts in the first two rounds of the state playoffs last week.
The Bulldogs (15-1, 11-1 Oregon West) opened the first round with a 3-0 win over Mazama on Oct. 30 and followed with a 4-0 victory against Valley Catholic on Saturday.
Woodburn was scheduled to host No. 7 Madras on Tuesday.
The Woodburn football team lost 30-21 to the Mazama Vikings in the first round of the state playoffs on Friday.
The North Marion football team fell 49-16 to the Marshfield Pirates in the first round of the state playoffs on Friday to finish the season.
The Kennedy football team won its sixth consecutive game, beating the Heppner Mustangs 34-0 in the first round of the state playoffs last Friday. The Trojans advance to play No. 2 Sheridan this Friday.
