North Marion's Jimenez commits to College of the Desert
After long consideration, North Marion senior Sergio Jimenez penned his commitment to continue his athletic career with the College of the Desert football team this fall.
Lining up behind center for the Huskies, Jimenez guided the North Marion football team to one of its best seasons in program history. The Huskies went 5-0 to win the Special District 2 Conference and followed with its first home playoff win in school history, besting the Stayton Eagles 47-27 in the first round of the 4A state playoffs. The Huskies fell a week later in a 28-21 home quarterfinal loss to the Marist Spartans.
Jimenez was named Offensive Player of the Year in the SD2 and was later named to the 4A All-State Honorable Mention Team. A three-sport athlete, Jimenez followed with his second consecutive All-State season on the basketball court, guiding the Huskies to the third seed in the 4A state quarterfinal tournament before the season was canceled.
Jimenez joins a Roadrunner team in Palm Desert, California, that is coming off a 2-8 season under sixth-year head coach Jack Steptoe. The College of the Desert football team is a member of the American Division-Mountain Conference in the Southern California Football Association.
