The Cougars got no momentum at any point against the visiting Lowell Devils on Thursday, Sept. 2.

It was about as rough a start to a football season as you can imagine. Gervais got run over by the visiting Lowell Devils 47-0 on Thursday, Sept. 2, to start the season off. The Cougars fell to 0-1 on the season while Lowell started its campaign with a 1-0 record.

It was rough from the jump. The first quarter saw the Devils get the early lead on a quarterback sneak and got a second touchdown later in the quarter to make things 14-0 early. The lone highlight from the first half for the Cougars was an interception courtesy of sophomore Gotti Ramon.

The second quarter saw more of the same. Gervais failed to put together a drive on offense and gave up big points on defense. By the time the second quarter ended Lowell had put together a 34-0 sheet. Gervais looked lost on defense and lifeless on offense.

The home team showed more life and energy in the second half, able to stop the Lowell Devils more consistently on offense and able to put together longer stretches on. But when the clock hit zeros at the end of the fourth quarter the result told the truth. Lowell dominated 47-0.

Gervais (0-1) looks for redemption on the road next Friday when they travel to Jefferson on Sept. 10, when Lowell (1-0) tangles with Glide.
