In a 3A/2A/1A league playoff matchup against Delphian, the Cougars were overwhelmed in first half loss

SALEM — It was a tough outing for the Cougars who looked to build upon a postseason victory just two days earlier. Gervais made the trip down to Salem to face off against the Delphian Dragons on a neutral field at Salem Academy High School on Wednesday, Oct. 27.

In the wind and rain Delphian blitzed Gervais in the first half, putting up 8 goals before the first 40 minutes were up.

Gervais was unable to muster offense in the attacking third. Delphian's backline fought off the Gervais strikers and forced turnovers that ultimately led the Cougars to fall back on the defensive and try to keep the counterattack at bay.

It was the second loss to the Dragons in the last three games. Gervais lost Friday, Oct. 22, in the final regular season game 6-2. The 8-0 loss was just the second time all season that Gervais was kept off the scoreboard.
