The Cougars made the most of their at large bid into the state championship race at Lane Community College on Nov. 5. Canby took eighth place with a team score of 233, equal to that of Springfield who finished in ninth place. However, the Cougars won on tiebreakers and squeaked into eighth.

Maddox Oliver was the fastest Cougar of the day by far, finishing 18th overall with a time of 16:24.5.

"I kind of wanted to run a little faster and place a little better, but sometimes you just have those days," Oliver said after the race. "Overall, I think it was an awesome experience and I'm kind of bummed that it's my last one."

Further back in the pack, a string of Canby runners claimed 59-63: Jacob Tilden (17:37.9), Jack Joyce (17:40.2), Rhett Smith (17:42.8), Andrew Dewar (17:49.1), and Corbin Stoddart (17:51.0), respectively. The final Cougar to finish his race was Leland Blair in 76th place with a time of 18:16.9.
