Woodburn chamber hands out annual awards at meeting
The 2017 Woodburn Area Chamber of Commerce's annual meeting took place Feb. 2 at Country Meadows Village.
Executive Director Stuart Rodgers narrated a 2017 review of many chamber events, new members and his tours of various businesses. Incoming board President John Zobrist outlined some goals the board has for 2018, including making Business After Hours more popular.
Outgoing board President Liz Koncil handed out four awards. The 2017 awards went to the following:
• Member of the Year: Jeremy Turner, of J Turner Solutions. "He brought us from the dark ages," Koncil said. "We have a more interactive chamber because of him with the addition of our app, helping with our Chamber 101 forums and our online presence."
• Business of the Year: Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm. "They were there for everything," Koncil said. "This award to them is for their contributions to the community, tourist activities and work on the board. What would Woodburn be like without Wooden Shoe?"
• Ambassador of the Year: Ali Swanson, of AFLAC. "She is so energetic and willing to help," Koncil said. "She is a wonderful face for our Ambassador's group."
• President's Choice Award: Janice Webb, of Webb Chiropractic. "She hosts everything, decorates everything and helped the board to 'Straighten Up'," Koncil said, referring to Webb Chiropractic's tagline. "She is leadership in motion and I don't know what we would do without her."
