NAACP forum to feature local candidates
A number of local candidates running for political office in November will meet over the course of three nights in October for a community forum hosted by the Salem-Keizer NAACP.
The virtual event will be hosted on CC Media and broadcast live online in English and Spanish. Media partners KTUP Radio Poder and KMUZ community radio also will air the broadcasts.According to organizers, the event is intended to be nonpartisan, and all candidates running for office received invitations to speak and answer questions.
The forums will be moderated by local people of color. Questions will be generated by participating organizations. Forums will feature candidates from state, county and city races, including House District 22 (Woodburn, Gervais, Brooks) and House District 25 (Newberg, St. Paul, French Prairie).
In addition to the Salem-Keizer NAACP, other partnering organizations include: PCUN, Mano a Mano, Latinos Unidos Siempre, Salem Coalition of Churches, Micronesian Islander Community, Sikh Seva Foundation NW, Temple Beth Sholom, Capitol City SURJ, and S.O.S (Save Our Selves).
