Gervais High School Leadership Team offers collective thoughts on upcoming bond

PMG PHOTO: JUSTIN MUCH - Gervais High School Leadership Team students are among those who have spoken out in favor of the school district facilities bond on the May 17 ballot. The Gervais High School Leadership Team really wants the GSD 2022 school bond to pass because it will benefit everyone: the students, the staff and anybody who comes to visit.

Some examples of these benefits are improved attendance, better learning experiences and safer conditions.

The changes to the courtyard will help improve attendance because with the added walkways, students will be able to get to their lockers and classes faster, therefore cutting down on tardies. Plus, a breath of fresh air is always good for morale. The new facilities also may motivate many students to want to come to school on a daily basis.

With upgrades to many parts of the school, the learning experience will be a lot better. The addition of two new classrooms will provide new subject matter, which in turn, could lead to possible future careers. This will make students excited and more ready to learn. Also, the upgraded spaces for staff will help them be as efficient as possible to improve the student experience.

Lastly, the improvements made to the various facilities around the school will make for a safer and more well-rounded experience for everyone. Given the age of the school, there is always the concern that the buildings may become unsafe, so improvements are very necessary. There is also the issue of equipment and supplies being outdated, so replacements or upgrades would be beneficial to students and staff alike.

Passing the GSD 2022 bond would improve the experience of anybody who walks through our doors. It will increase the efficiency and productivity of our schools. Finally, we have an amazing community here in Gervais, and we feel that our students and staff simply deserve the best!
