The regional writers group also named the Pacifica Hybrid the Best Family-Sized Plug-In Hybrid at Drive Revolution, the annual day-long comparision of green vehicles that it sponsors.

Also winning awards were: the 2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV, which was named Northwest Affordable Battery-Electric Vehicle of the Year; the Chevy Volt, which was named Northwest Affordable Hybrid Car of the Year; and the 2018 Lexus LS 500h, which was named Northwest Luxury Green Vehicle of the Year.

"The variety of vehicles is impressive," said Drive Revolution Chair Sarah Shelton of U.S. News & World Report. "From small city cars that cost less than $28,000, to fuel-sipping family-haulers that can carry up to seven people, today's selection demonstrates that there is something for anyone when it comes to alternatively-fueled vehicles."

This year's Drive Revolution was conducted at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. It included 19 all-electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, all of which are among the most fuel efficient on the market today. Test drives were conducted from the Pearson Air Museum to area roads, including a section of the I-5 freeway, and back.

The Pacifica Hybrid, which is both the only hybrid and plug-in hybrid minivan for sale in the country, won both awards because of its design and economy.

"The Pacifica Hybrid's 84 mpg-e and 33 miles of all-electric range saves you hundreds in fuel costs each year over the average new minivan or SUV," Shelton said. "But what's particularly remarkable is that you can achieve this fuel economy while also carrying a family of seven in the front and a suitcase for everyone in the back. This, along with a notable amount of standard equipment, makes the Pacifica Hybrid a truly family-friendly vehicle."
