Portland General Electric has announced plans to build a new electric vehicle charging hub at the Eastport Plaza Shopping Center in East Portland. The planned installation will include six charging stations and feature both Level 2 and DC Fast Chargers. A standard charge fee will be $3, and a quick charge will cost $5. Customers can also choose a $25 monthly subscription to use all Electric Avenue locations.
"I am thrilled that PGE is installing this infrastructure in East Portland," said Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler. "This project is a demonstration of PGE and Portland's commitment to climate change goals, and it also aligns with the city's EV Strategy, Climate Action Plan and 100 Percent Renewables by 2050 Resolution. I look forward to all of our East Portland neighbors who own electric vehicles having greater charging access and convenience."
Eastport Plaza is located at Southeast 82nd Avenue and Southeast Holgate Boulevard, close to Interstate 205 and Highway 26/Southeast Powell Boulevard. Construction of the East Portland Electric Avenue is scheduled for 2019.
PGE plans to install up to six new Electric Avenues across the region. PGE will own and maintain each site at no cost to the host cities. The Eastport location follows Electric Avenue installations in the cities of Milwaukie and Hillsboro, as well as the original installation at the World Trade Center in downtown Portland.
